Job Description:

This Repair Development Engineer (RDE) position is with the Aftermarket & Sustainability Engineering (ASE) Military Repairs group. The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs and tooling for the F135/F119/F100/TF-33 engines. This position focuses on repair execution and qualification and includes development of repairs and repair tooling, scheduling, and execution of repair qualifications, obtaining internal approvals, facilitating government approval, and coordination with the various repair sources.

Responsibilities:

Execute assigned tasks to meet schedule requirements

Research operating environments and functionality of components, interactions with mating parts; develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service.

Create technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs

Research and review source processes for alignment to published technical data

Collaborate with other Repair Development Engineer (RDE) for Source Demonstration repairs and engage with audits as needed

Facilitate the development and qualification of repair tooling

Identify and resolve any technical issues for manufacture, design, inspection and tool try-out.

Contribute to the development of standard work for repairs and tooling management.

Provide routine status report to customer and tooling management thru various channels.

Participate in the prototyping of new repairs and tooling as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

2 years of prior experience in the aerospace industry or an advanced degree in a related field.

English fluency (verbal and written)

US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in the Aerospace Industry

Experience with Microsoft Office applications

Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of complex assemblies and how to translate those interactions into sound analytical assumptions

Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Able to read and communicate part and tool drawing requirements
