Customer Project Manager - PREFAB DATA CENTERS

Job Description:
SUMMARY OF JOB:

The modular Data Centers have been driving a tremendous growth to the segment during the last years. As part of Data Center Systems Line of Business, The PREFABRICATED DATA CENTER organization (Prefab) designs and integrates full solutions built upon power conversion, energy storage, cooling, electrical distribution equipment and control software into modular enclosures.
The Project Manager has the responsibility to successfully execute the projects once the Customer Order is secured and lead the teams through the main project phases, such as design, procurement, production, testing, commissioning, and Services enablement. The Project Manager highly collaborate with the Global Customer Project organization of Schneider Electric as most of the Prefab scope is part of a more global one, at the level of the company. Focusing on Prefab scope, the Project Manager is having in charge the animation and the success of the project team in term of cost, quality, lead-time, and business performance. He / She ensures the delivery of the solution to the country of destination and secures a safe hand-over to the customer. Belonging to the Prefab team in Barcelona (Sant Boi de Lobregat), there’s a strong engagement in the leadership and the success of the Prefab project in leading the factory project activities as well.
Therefore, the Project Manager shall:


  • Lead global, cross-functional teams to deliver Modular Data Centers for country based and global customers worldwide.
  • Ensure at any time of the project an optimum customer satisfaction by applying SE Quality standards: in term of project execution and product development
  • Ensure regular finance reconciliation part of the business performance of the projects
  • Optimize the business performance of the projects, with a clear focus on the Gross Margin improvement all along the project cycle: be force of proposition
  • Communicate among key stake holders in the project, Schneider entities and factories. Depending of the project set-up communication may go up to customer.
  • Lead and direct teams to execute project plans and follow Schneider Electric CPP (Customer Project Processes) which is based on the PMI methodology.
  • Closely control the project budget within the targeted margin objective and/or other project targets defined

ESSENTIAL RESPONSABILITIES

Follow Company Customer Project Processes (CPP)

  • Lead a global, multi-functional team to deliver project and offers to market
  • Execute and implement all work aligned with the CPP
  • Ensure the project governance is met according to the CPP and within SE tools and systems: primarily, it consists to ensure Stage Gates are met, crossed, approved and communicated with clear action plan with mitigation actions defined.

Deliver

  • Manage projects focusing on the delivery of a product from concept to launch
  • Manage project teams in a global matrix organization, across multiple time zones and locations
  • Identify root causes of problems, offer options and solutions to resolve issues and own the resolutionof any impediment
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Work with functional management to staff projects appropriately

Lead

  • Work with internal and external factories that will integrate our solutions, and also with all functions involved in the solution across Scheider-Electric
  • Build trust and consensus for effective project collaboration
  • Work Independently with little supervision. Show ownership of the project in any of its aspects.
  • Advance corporate competencies and processes through continuous improvement activities

Exercise Project Discipline

  • Be the ambassador of the CPP
  • Define the Project Management Plan at the beginning of each project, aligned to CPP Gates that must be visible and enforced, to provide clarity towards all internal and external stakeholders
  • Create and own project plans (schedule, resources) to meet project expectations and to ensure cost, quality, lead-time and business performance.
  • Coordinate all support activities to meet new product contract deliverables
  • Analyze, anticipate, quantify, and mitigate risks (technical, schedule, manufacturability, application, etc.)
  • Maintain a risk register to co-ordinate, record and manage potential issues and follow mitigation plans through to completion.

Report

  • Report status of project activity to all stakeholders (e.g., management, support functions, customers, etc.)
  • Communicate and manage changes in project scope to departmental and cross functional teams
  • Be responsible for project metrics for schedule, cost, quality, customer satisfaction

Improve

  • Interface with Cross-functional teams and with Corporate project office to continuously improve the new product development processes
  • Contribute towards performance reviews in partnership with functional managers

SCOPE AND SIZE

EDUCATION

  • Master Degree in a Technical or Industrial field // Major in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • PMP Certification desired
